Join the GCP Committee
The Globe Community Project (GCP) is looking for new trustees and committee members to join our lively and dedicated committee! You would be joining the charity at a very exciting time as we develop and strengthen our projects for the local community.
Our projects include:
Take Back Your Life - a mindfulness based pain management programme for people on low incomes and with low literacy
The Language of Wellbeing: we are developing an innovative Yoga and English language project for refugees, in partnership with refugee organisation, Praxis
Wellbeing for Elders: using mindfulness and social connection to offer group support to some of Tower Hamlets’ most isolated residents
As a trustee or committee member you would have the opportunity to feed into and develop the GCP’s work in the community, helping the charity to support the health and wellbeing of some of the most isolated and deprived residents in Tower Hamlets. Your role in supporting the governance, strategy, finance and functions of the charity are all vital for our ability to alleviate suffering in the local community. The role also provides an opportunity to learn more about how charities function and to develop your skills and experience.
What is the commitment?
The main commitment is to attend four evening committee meetings per year. These take place in Bethnal Green, East London, and last two hours. The trustees and committee members also attend the charity’s AGM which takes place once a year.
What we are looking for
The main quality we are seeking is a commitment and enthusiasm for the work of the Globe Community Project! Knowledge of charities, fundraising, finance and governance are all welcome too, or any other skills and interests you feel are relevant.
Interested?
If you are interested in becoming a trustee or committee member please contact Tess on: gcp@globecommunityproject.org who can provide more information and discuss next steps with you!
More about the Globe Community Project
The Globe Community Project was founded by members of the Triratna Buddhist community in 2004 to serve the local community in the Globe Town area and throughout Tower Hamlets by developing projects and providing facilities, in collaboration with local residents and organisations, with the aim to improve the conditions of life for disadvantaged and vulnerable groups. We have run employability courses for ethnic minority and other disadvantaged women, a benefits advice session, a re-integration into the community project for ex-offenders and various community cohesion projects, including English language development using craft skills.
